HyperbaricLink.com Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: I’m looking for a doctor who can explain hyperbaric oxygen therapy and how it might help me. Are you going to have a list of HBOT physicians?

A: Yes. We will be hosting the most comprehensive list of HBOT physicians and clinicians on the web. You will be able to compare, locate, and contact a physician that’s right for you. Profiles will show conditions treated, areas of specialty, education, experience, certifications, institutional affiliations, and other useful information.

Q: I’m looking for an HBOT treatment center in my area. Can I search your directory by location?

A: Yes. A facility locator is one of the most requested features of HyperbaricLink.com. We will list both hospital-based and freestanding treatment facilities. You can enter your address, ZIP code, or city then map nearby providers. Treatment center profiles will also show affiliated physicians and clinicians, types of hyperbaric chambers used, and facility accreditation. If you would like us to notify you when the directory is available, please contact us at .

Q: Are you going to provide discussion forums where visitors can read and exchange information about hyperbaric oxygen therapy?

A: We're considering adding features to create a dynamic online community, where patients and experts alike can get answers and discuss HBOT issues and trends.

Q: I saw an oxygen chamber on TV in a segment on anti-aging and superhealth. Can your site help me learn more about HBOT and wellness?

A: At present we haven't seen any compelling clinical evidence that hyperbaric oxygen therapy is effective for those purposes. If that changes we'll certainly report on it, but in the meantime we think a sensible diet and regular exercise are the way to go.

Q: I want to buy or lease a hyperbaric chamber for my home. Can I shop for one on your site?

A: No, we are not in the business of reselling hyperbaric chambers or other equipment. Also, there is currently no clinical evidence to suggest inflatable ("bag") chambers provide any medical benefit. We are also concerned that the capabilities of these devices are being misrepresented and do not endorse their use.

Q: My child has autism. Can your site help me keep up with the latest developments in research on HBOT for autism?

A: Yes. We’ll keep you abreast of new studies and emerging therapies on the site and on our blog, O2.0. Our news feed and clinical research links will help you find medical evidence on HBOT for a whole range of diseases and conditions, but use of HBOT to treat the symptoms of autism spectrum disorders is still experimental.

Q: I’ve read that doctors are investigating the use of HBOT for cerebral palsy. Can your site help me find out how to participate in a clinical trial?

A: Yes. Each condition page includes our Evidence Index, which has links to more information about clinical trials. Note that there may not be clinical trial being currently conducted for the condition in which you are interested, the clinical trial may not be currently recruiting subject patients, or you may be ineligible for the trial.

Q: I’m a physician-scientist currently enrolling HBOT patients in a clinical trial. Can your site help me find good candidates?

A: We are exploring ways HyperbaricLink.com could help you to attract, reach out, and communicate with clinical trial candidates, but we are not clinical trial recruiters or managers. We are not affiliated with any manufacturers or contract research organizations.

Q: Will your site offer advertising space?

A: No. We like clean sites and don't feel advertising would contribute to the usefulness of the site.

Q: I’m trying to decide if hyperbaric oxygen therapy is right for me. Can you help me?
